This policy explains what personal information Sri Nrityalayam collects through this website and through the ways people contact us, why we collect it, and what you can ask us to do with it.

Who we are

Sri Nrityalayam is a school of Kuchipudi, the classical dance form, run by Dr. Sridevi Gudhimella and Dr. Srijayanthi Gudhimella. Classes are held in person in Montreal, Quebec, Canada, and online. In this policy, “we” and “us” mean Sri Nrityalayam.

What we collect, and why

When you write to us

The website has no forms. If you contact us by WhatsApp or email, we receive your name, your phone number or email address, and whatever you choose to tell us, such as your city, whether the classes are for you or for a child, and a child’s age. We use this only to answer you and, if you wish, to arrange classes.

WhatsApp is a service of Meta. Messages sent through it are also handled under WhatsApp’s own privacy policy.

If you become a student

We keep the information needed to teach and to run classes: the student’s name and contact details, and for a child, the name and contact details of a parent or guardian. We do not collect this through the website.

Automatically, when you visit the website

  • Security. Our security software records technical information about visits, such as IP address, browser type and the pages requested, to protect the site from attacks and misuse.
  • Hosting. Our web hosting provider records similar technical information in its server logs, and may use a performance monitoring script that sets cookies. See our Cookie Policy.
  • Fonts. Some of the typefaces on this site are loaded from Google Fonts. When a page loads them, your browser sends your IP address to Google. See Google’s privacy policy.

Cookies

Which cookies this site uses, what each one is for, and how to refuse or withdraw consent is set out in our Cookie Policy. Cookies that are not strictly necessary are off until you agree to them.

Advertising

Some pages of this website may show advertising served by Google.

  • Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on a user’s prior visits to this website or other websites.
  • Google’s use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to this site and/or other sites on the Internet.
  • You may opt out of personalised advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings. You can also opt out of some third-party vendors’ use of cookies for personalised advertising at www.aboutads.info.
  • How Google uses information from sites that use its services is explained at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.

Advertising cookies are not placed until you agree to them.

Who we share it with

We do not sell personal information, and we do not share it for anyone else’s marketing.

We use a small number of service providers who handle information on our behalf: our web hosting provider, our email provider, WhatsApp, Google for fonts and, where shown, advertising, and our security software. They may store information on servers outside Quebec, including in the United States. Where that happens, we take reasonable steps to make sure the information is protected in line with this policy.

We may also disclose information where the law requires it.

How long we keep it

  • Messages from people who do not go on to join classes: [PERIOD, for example 12 months], then deleted.
  • Student records: while the student attends, and for [PERIOD, for example 2 years] afterwards, then deleted.
  • Website security and server logs: kept for the periods set by the software and the host, usually a few weeks to a few months.

Children

We teach children, but we do not collect information from children through this website. For a child under 14, we collect information only from a parent or guardian, with their consent.

Your rights

You can ask us to:

  • tell you what personal information we hold about you, and give you a copy;
  • correct information that is wrong or incomplete;
  • stop using your information, or delete it, where we no longer need it or you withdraw your consent;
  • give you the information you provided in a structured, commonly used format.

Write to the person in charge of the protection of personal information at important@srinrityalayam.com. We will reply within 30 days. If you are not satisfied with our answer, you may complain to the Commission d’accès à l’information du Québec.

Security

We take reasonable steps to protect personal information from loss, misuse and unauthorised access. No website or messaging service is completely secure, so please do not send sensitive information, such as health details, by WhatsApp or email unless it is needed.
